Student questions:

  • Who you are, your name and where you are from
  • Your experiences and what happened to you
  • Did you have any one to talk to what happened about it and what would you change about it
  • What is bullying – what do you think bullying is (definition)
  • Have you ever met a bully
  • How would you describe a bully – what does a typical bully look like
  • How many of you have seen people being bullied and what have you done about it
  • What would you do if you knew someone who was being bullied
  • Do you know who you would need to tell if you saw someone being bullied
  • How many of you feel that you can talk to the school about bullying and if you were being bullied do you think that it would be sorted out by the school
  • Do you think you have ever bullied someone and not realised
  • Any advice you could give someone who is being bullied
  • Statistic guessing using white boards (e.g how many people in the UK do you think gets bullied in a year- the students will be given an envelope with a question inside, one student will then read out what it says and they all need to write down their answers and then the real answer will be given to them and we will see the reaction of the students once they see the real answer)
  • True or false answers to questions they will be asked about bullying statistics and then they can hold up either the true or false sign to each one they think is right- then the real answer will be revealed and we will see their reactions to this.

Questions for pastoral managers:

  • Introduce yourself
  • Tell me a bit about the job you have and what that involves
  • How you do resolve the bullying cases that occur in and out of school? Do you think any changes to this could be made to make people feel more open to telling schools and college about their problems with bullying
  • Do you have to deal with a lot of bullying cases?
  • What type of bullying is the most common that you see in school/what you’ve had to deal with, why do you think this is
  • How do you think bullying affects young people’s lives
  • Do you see a lot of bullying in college and how do you think bullying changes when students go from primary-secondary-college-uni
  • Do you think there needs to be more support groups for bullying and why
  • What do you think needs to change in order for bullying to stop
  • Would you recommend someone to go to a support group or talk to people in college if they are suffering
  • Do the bullying cases that you deal with
  • What do you think are the biggest myths about bullying (stereotypes etc)
  • Do you have any advice you could give to someone who is suffering

The questions I ask the teachers will be the same/ similar questions to the ones I ask the students in their group interviews and I may ask them the same questions as the pastoral managers (above).

  • Why do you come to camerados, or why do you come to the lounge area?
  • Do you have any advice you could give to someone who is suffering
  • Why would you recommend coming to camerados
  • Has camerados helped you and why if not why does camerados help others
